Originally from Habana, Cuba, Reinier Valdes began to dance at the age of 13. At the young age of 15, he became part of an Afrocuban dance company that toured throughout Cuba. Reinier graduated as a dance instructor, at 18, specializing in latin rhythms, which included Cuban Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and Rumba. In 2009, Reinier traveled to Brazil to study at Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais and continued to work as a dancer and instructor. He became the director of a salsa and latin rhythm group, which performed at various studios and theaters in Brazil. He now lives in Seattle and hopes to encourage the Cuban Salsa community.
